Day-by-day gold price in Kenya
The table above shows the shilling price of one gram of 24 karat gold for each day this site has taken a reading, at the Central Bank of Kenya dollar and at the open-market dollar, with the day's move. The record is kept by this site from its own readings, so it starts short and grows. The CBK publishes no rate for weekends and holidays, and a move in this price comes from the world metal far more than from the shilling.
The price of a gram, day by day
Each day's 24 karat gram in shillings at the CBK dollar and the open-market dollar, and the change from the previous row.

What the columns mean
Each row is one day. The columns show the price at the CBK dollar, the price at the open-market dollar, and the change from the previous reading. The change is the difference between one day's price and the next, and it can be up or down. The table does not show a forecast, and it does not show a jeweller's quote.
The record is this site's own. It begins from the first day this site took a reading, so the table is short at first and grows over time. No other source is used, and no figure is backfilled. The CBK rate has no row for weekends and holidays, so the table skips those days.
The CBK row is not every day
The Central Bank of Kenya publishes its weighted average of interbank spot trades only on days when the interbank market trades. That means no rate for weekends and holidays. This site does not carry the last available rate forward, because that would invent a price for a day when no trade happened.
The open-market dollar, from Binance P2P, is available every day because the peer-to-peer market trades every day, settled through M-Pesa or bank transfer. The two columns therefore sometimes have different rows. The gap is a gap in the official record, not a gap in the market.
A move comes from the world metal
The shilling price of gold moves when the world gold price in dollars moves, or when the shilling moves against the dollar. In Kenya, the shilling has been stable against the dollar for a long time, and the open-market dollar tracks the CBK rate closely. A jump in the shilling gold price is therefore almost always the world metal moving.
That is not true everywhere. In Nigeria and Pakistan, the open-market dollar can carry a large premium over the official rate, and a shilling gold price can jump because of the dollar, not the metal. Here, the two dollar rates are within a fraction of a per cent, so the metal is the story.
The day's move is arithmetic
The change column is the difference between one day's reading and the next. It is not a market forecast, and it does not tell you what tomorrow will bring. It is a record of what happened, and it is shown so a reader can see the volatility of the metal.
Gold moves every day, sometimes by a lot. The day's move is the world market digesting news about interest rates, inflation, war, or the dollar. None of that is unique to Kenya, and none of it is predictable. The table is a history, not a hint.
The open-market dollar in the history
The open-market dollar is the median of credible Binance P2P USDT advertisements in shillings. It is a stablecoin price, settled through M-Pesa or bank transfer, not a banknote price at a forex bureau. It is the open-market dollar Kenyans can actually trade at, and it is available every day.
In the history, the open-market column starts on the day this site first took a reading from Binance P2P. It is not backfilled. The two columns run side by side from that day, and they show that the two dollar rates give nearly the same gram.
What the table does not show
The table does not show a jeweller's price. It does not show a making charge, a wastage fee, or a buy-back deduction. It does not show a forecast, and it does not show a local fixing. It shows the derived metal value only, at two dollar rates.
A reader who wants to buy a piece should take the table as a benchmark, then ask the jeweller for a written quote: per-gram rate, making charge, and buy-back terms. The difference between the table and the quote is the cost of the piece.

Questions about the gold price
Why does the table skip some days?
The Central Bank of Kenya publishes no rate for weekends and holidays. This site does not carry the last rate forward, so the table skips those days. The open-market dollar is available every day, so the two columns sometimes have different rows.
Where does the history come from?
The history is this site's own. It begins from the first day this site took a reading, so it starts short and grows. No other source is used, and no figure is backfilled.
What does the day's move mean?
The day's move is the difference between one day's reading and the next. It is a record of what happened, not a forecast. Gold moves every day, and the move is the world market digesting news.
Why are the two dollar rates so close?
The CBK rate is the official interbank rate, and the open-market dollar is a stablecoin price on Binance P2P. In Kenya, the two rates are within a fraction of a per cent because the shilling market is deep and liquid. A jump in the gold price is therefore the metal moving, not a hidden dollar premium.
Can I use this table to time a purchase?
The table is a history, not a hint. No one can promise where the metal will go. A buyer should decide based on their own need and budget, not on a chart.
